The iconic InterContinental Hotel Isla Verde, which has been on the facade since the early 2000s, will be renamed Sonesta Hotel Puerto Rico later this year or early 2021. Yesterday, the hotel was officially renamed after completing a $1.5 billion takeover by Sonetta Group, Inc., the world's largest hotel operator. On Tuesday, Sonesta announced the acquisition of its entire portfolio of hotels and resorts in the U.S. Virgin Islands, which includes the iconic hotel and a number of other properties that are to be part of the Service Properties Trust, known by its NASDAQ symbol SVC.
