I recently went on a trip to San Juan, Puerto Rico, and I can tell you that this is paradise for you when you are looking for an island. Traveling there sounds expensive, but it doesn't have to be expensive, and travelers visiting Puerto Rico have a lot of options where to stay in San Juan.
Since a trip to Puerto Rico is a great way to explore different parts of the island, I decided to focus my visit on San Juan and the other major cities in the region such as San Jose, San Pedro and San Miguel.
